This year thousands of people rallied around bereaved families whose loved ones have died in custody as they marched to Downing Street demanding an urgent meeting with the Prime Minister. Again this year UFFC also showed solidarity with a simultaneous march and protest with fellow campaigners in Scotland.

Hundreds of friends and relatives of people who died in prison or police custody in the UK have held a rally and remembrance procession through central London, calling for justice for their loved ones. The annual rally was organised by the United Families & Friends Campaign.

This event marked the 18th anniversary of the killing of Mikey Powell in police custody, and celebrated 5 years of the National Memorial Family Fund.

On 17th June 2012 people gathered at peaceful vigils all around the UK to remember fathers that have died in police, prison, mental health and immigration detention.

Families and campaigners gathered in Leicester to pay tribute to those that had died in custody. The day marked what would have been the forty-fifth birthday of Mikey Powell, who died in September 2003 after being detained by police in Birmingham.

This was a vibrant night of live music, arts and poetry commemorating the death of Mikey Powell, who died in police custody in September 2003, and in support of Tony Egbuna Ford, an innocent black man awaiting a death sentence in Texas, USA.
