4WardEverUK is a community collective providing news and information sharing services for our readers and members.
Our purpose is to provide a one-stop-resource for case profiles, news and event details, useful resources, statistics, appeals, and more in relation to deaths and abuses whilst in custody; including the death penalty, other injustices and human rights abuses in the UK and internationally.
We particularly focus on and support the call for police, penal and mental health reforms, for an end to custody deaths, killings and abuse; wrongful convictions and the brutality of torture, genocide and capital punishment.
“Keep informed and keep up the struggle for justice”
Our activities and on-line services are managed by a small dedicated team of volunteers: Established in 2006.
In 1978 shortly after leaving school, along with a group of his peers, Tippa helped to develop and lead the Negus Youth Collective, a pioneering Rastafarian led youth arts & culture community project in Birmingham.
After moving to London in 1983 he became involved with (or co-developed) many community-based projects and organisations over 26+ years spanning housing cooperatives, performing arts, youth projects, homelessness, HIV, food poverty projects, mental health and counselling services.
He has chaired several local and national organisations, starting his own community groups and social enterprises; and providing support to other similar organisations, social enterprises and businesses.
He moved back to his home-city of Birmingham in 2005, two years after his cousin was killed whilst being restrained by West Midlands police officers.
A Legacy for Mikey Powell
by Tippa Naphtali.
The History:
The Mikey Powell Campaign for Justice
website
had become a widely used reference and information resource for many families, their friends, supporters and campaign groups.
Growing from their experiences and struggles following Mikey’s death in September 2003, his family wanted to do something to give exposure to his story.
In a very short time they met with other affected families who, like them, had no voice on the worldwide web; and what began as a basic website focused on Mikey’s case gradually developed into something much more comprehensive.
A separate entity was needed to cater for this.
The Now:
The 4WardEverUK website was developed and launched in 2006 by Mikey’s cousin, Tippa Naphtali. It has grown considerably in its content and now has more than 2,000+ visitors a day on average (and growing) from around the world.
We support work for police, penal and mental health reforms in the UK and internationally. This is done through our website, other online resources, the organisation of and participation in events for justice, and direct support of families through our various activities, services and resources.
4WardEverUK is dedicated to the memory of Mikey Powell, and continues to work with other campaigns, organisations and other families across the country and abroad in giving exposure to their issues and causes.
Funds are raised to support our work through advertising,
donations from families and friends, some of 4WardEverUK’s services, personal investment, and part-proceeds from partner enterprise,
First Stop Design.
The Future:
4WardEverUK maintains this website and other services to provide profiles, news, event details, resources and useful information, appeals, and photo galleries in relation to deaths in custody and other injustices.
We want to ensure that our website can be a useful resource to a range of individuals, groups and organisations that are seeking to influence reform and provide assistance to affected families, supporters and friends both in the UK and abroad.
We will also continue working with associates, partners and friends to develop and provide direct support to affected families across the UK.

Dr Kwame Nkrumah said
(inspiration for 4WardEverUK's name);
“We face neither East nor West; We face forward. All men of goodwill, organize, organize, organize. We prefer self-government in danger, to servitude in tranquility. Forward ever, backward never”.
