Art & Soul ‘Voices from Death Row’ was a small event with a big spirit, and everyone who attended was touched by the messages of hope and solidarity that affected all that were present.
INJUSTICE & MOVE screenings >
Indymedia Birmingham, in conjunction with the Mikey Powell Campaign, screened Injustice, and a short filmed interview with Ramona Africa of the US based MOVE group.

On the stage in the small upstairs bar of Catch 22, right in the centre of Hoxton, Pat Coker, the mother of Paul Coker, shakes with rage, “We will go on fighting! Until the day we die.”
Mikey Memorial & Injustice CD >
Family & friends of the Mikey Powell campaign held a commemorative event on the third anniversary of his death in police custody, and to help promote the new Sounds of Injustice CD.
Moving Forward Together >
The event bought together families and artists including renowned poet Benjamin Zephaniah, cousin of Mikey Powell, to help launch a major new campaign, and share their stories.

The battle between police and residents in Brixton in April 1981 was the most significant outbreak of civil disorder in 20th century London.
The disturbances influenced similar outbreaks in the cities of Liverpool, Bradford and Birmingham.
