Powell family makes Rule 43 Recommendations

The following are the recommendations under Rule 43 * put to the Coroner by the family’s legal representatives following the jury verdict on 18th December 2009. These recommendations are compiled not only in relation to Mikey’s case but to other similar cases both in the West Midlands region and nationally.

Darrell Lomax

Darrell is a death row inmate in the notorious San Quentin Prison (California). He has been waiting for 14 years to clear his name. His supporters are fighting, not only for Darrell’s ultimate freedom, but for his life.

INQUEST wins the Longford Prize

INQUEST, the organisation which assists the families of those who die in custody, has been awarded the 2009 Longford Prize. The Longford Prize recognises the contribution of an individual, group or organisation working in the area of penal or social reform which has shown ‘outstanding qualities of humanity, courage, persistence and originality’.
