Family and friends of Sean Fitzgerald held a peaceful protest outside Coventry Central Police Station today (January 4) to mark three years since his tragic death.

In January 2019, 31-year-old Sean suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest as officers carried out a raid at an address [which was located] on Burnaby Road in Holbrooks.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) recently revealed that the officer who fired the fatal gunshot had been served a misconduct notice, which essentially means his actions were under investigation.

But Sean’s family and friends believe this is not enough and are still seeking justice three years after the shooting.

CoventryLive attended the peaceful protest outside Coventry Central Police Station where a large group gathered to continue their fight for justice for Sean.

His partner Sharlene spoke at the protest about why they decided to come together three years after his death. She said: “We’re here today to fight for justice for Sean Fitzgerald. Three years ago today he was killed in Coventry by police and we have had no accountability, no answers and no justice, and we’re not having it. We’ll come back year after year and fight for justice for Sean.”
