Police failings in the care of a man who swallowed a packet of drugs contributed to his death, an inquest ruled. The jury in the inquest of Leroy ‘Junior’ Medford ruled he died of a heroin overdose after being arrested in April 2017.

An inquest jury has concluded that police restraint of a man from Coventry who died days after being arrested contributed to his death. Darren Cumberbatch died in hospital nine days after being restrained by police in July 2017.
