Family and friends of a young father who died after being detained by police have paid tribute to him as he was laid to rest.
Edir Frederico Da Costa, known as Edson, died in hospital in June, days after the car he was travelling in was stopped by police in Tollgate Road, Beckton.
The injuries the 25-year-old sustained before his death and the use of police force and CS gas have since been questioned by his family. The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has launched an investigation into Edson’s death.
Relatives laid flowers close to where the incident happened, at the junction with Woodcocks, on the way to his funeral, which was held at Manor Park Cemetery today.
