The family of Sheku Bayoh who died in police custody have vowed they “will never give up fighting” to find out what happened to him – exactly two years after his tragic death.

Kadi Johnson said her brother had been “brutally taken” from the family but they still had “no answers” regarding his death.

Sheku, 31, died after being restrained by officers responding to a call in Kirkcaldy on May 3, 2015.

The Police Investigations and Review Commissioner submitted a report into the incident to the Crown Office in August last year, and a fatal accident inquiry is due to take place regardless of whether there are criminal proceedings.

It also emerged earlier this year that relatives of Sheku intend to launch a civil action against Police Scotland.

In a statement to mark the anniversary of the death, Kadi said: “Two years has gone by, no answers yet.”
