An investigation has been launched after a man died at an immigration removal centre on Friday.

Disorder broke out at Morton Hall centre in Lincolnshire after the death and staff were forced to seek refuge. About 30 detainees were thought to have been involved.

A Home Office spokesman said the situation had been “successfully resolved” at about 8.30pm on Saturday. “Specially trained staff brought the situation to a safe conclusion, with no injuries to staff or detainees and minor damage to one unit. An investigation will now take place.”
