CALM (the campaign against living miserably)
CALM was set up in response to the high suicide rate among young men, currently the biggest killer of men under the age of 35. It is a campaign and charity set up for and on behalf of young men. Most men who kill themselves aren’t in contact with any other agency. And to be blunt, they don’t identify with much out there. When asked, what they indicated they wanted was practical, anonymous, confidential help from professionals. Which is why CALM was formed.
The Bureau of Investigative Journalism
The Bureau is a not-for-profit organisation based at City University, London, that bolsters original journalism by producing high-quality investigations for press and broadcast media. People against False Accusations of Abuse
This site is dedicated to anyone who has been falsely accused of abuse, in whichever disguise it takes. As an organisation, we are concerned primarily with the current climate that makes it possible for anyone to be accused of abuse, especially of a sexual nature, and in particular against children. Secondarily, we continue to uphold the beliefs, with other pressure groups, that the power of Social Services in the UK and elsewhere needs to be curbed, and also, to coin one of their phrases, “in the best interest of the child” that the secret family courts need to be abolished and be made accountable for the decisions they arrive at.
Communities of Resistance
Communities of Resistance (CoRe) is a new grassroots initiative that aims to stop prison expansion in Britain. We oppose building new prisons, because prisons do not make our communities safe. Our long-term aim is to build a vibrant and broad-based movement to end the violence of incarceration.
Prison Radio’s mission is to challenge mass incarceration and racism by airing the voices of men and women in prison by bringing their voices into the public dialogue on crime and punishment. Radio’s productions illustrate the perspectives and the intrinsic human worth of the more than 7.1 million people under correctional control in the U.S.
