Martina Davis-Correia, sister of the late Troy Davis, has died. Davis-Correia passed (1 Dec 2011) after a long battle with cancer and was the firestorm that took her brother’s case to international heights.
Although few people initially paid attention to the faulty murder conviction of this young black male in Georgia, Davis’ sister dedicated her life to fighting for her brother’s freedom.

17 year-old Darnesha Harris of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, died on the 2 December 2012. She was shot dead by a police officer Travis Guillot who fired two shots into her vehicle after she had driven into a patrol car.
At a vigil held for Darnesha her brother spoke about the family’s emotions and that they wanted answers.

On 4 December 1969 Fred Hampton, aged 21, and who was a leading, charismatic and powerful member of the Chicago chapter for The Black Panther Party; was shot dead during a police raid at his home.
The Black Panther Party was created by people of colour who had witnessed unacceptable police behaviour to their communities.

Nelson Mandela was born on July 18, 1918, into a royal family of the Xhosa-speaking Thembu tribe in the South African village of Mvezo, where his father, Gadla Henry Mphakanyiswa (c. 1880-1928), served as chief.
His mother, Nosekeni Fanny, was the third of Mphakanyiswa’s four wives, who together bore him nine daughters and four sons.

Shelly Frey, a 27 year-old mother of two, was shot dead on 6 December 2012 when shopping with friends at a Walmart store in Houston, Texas. This happened after an off-duty sheriff's deputy, named as Louis Campbell, approached Shelly and her friends, Tiasa Andrews and Yolanda Craig, on the assumption Shelly had shoplifted.

Alton Manning, a 33-year-old Black man from Sparkbrook Birmingham, was a prisoner on remand, and was killed on 8th December 1995 after being assaulted by prison officers at the private prison HMP Blakenhurst.
An Inquest, which originally opened on Monday 12th January 1998 and concluded on 25th March 1998, unanimously decided that Alton Manning was unlawfully killed.

On 16 December 2015, in the course of an acute mental health crisis, 25-year-old Dean Saunders stabbed a family member and, while trying to stab himself, injured another family member.
The police subsequently charged him with two counts of attempted murder. The next day, he was remanded to HMP Chelmsford.

Two police officers from Stoke Newington police station north London arrested 34 year old Shiji Lapite early on 16th December 1994, after he left a club in east London. They claimed that he was carrying £4,000 of crack cocaine, which he left by a tree when he realised he was being followed.
During a struggle, one officer applied a neck hold and the other kicked Mr Lapite in the head. Half an hour later he was dead from suspected asphyxiation.

Adrian Thompson died after being Tasered by police by a 50,000-volt stun gun was not breaking into the property as thought but visiting friends for a quiet birthday drink, a friend has claimed.
He became unresponsive after being bundled into a police car and taken into custody in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire.

Mark Read, 39, known to his friends as Graeme, died in a cell at Bath Central police station in Manvers Street the night before Christmas Eve, after Avon and Somerset officers arrested him for being drunk and incapable.
Officers claimed they had taken him into custody “for his own safety”. Officers later found him ‘unresponsive’ during a check and he was taken to the Royal United Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Akmal Shaikh was executed at 10.30am local time on December 29 in Urumqi, China. The Beijing regime’s ambassador to Britain, Fu Ying, was hauled into the Foreign Office hours after British-born alledged heroin smuggler Akmal Shaikh, 53, was executed by lethal injection in the city of Urumqi. He was the first European to be executed in China for more than 50 years.
