Frances Newton – Innocent Woman Executed

On Wednesday 14th September 2005, Frances Newton became the third woman to die in Texas’ death chamber since executions resumed in 1982, and the first black woman to be executed in the state since the Civil War.

Frank Ogboru became another victim to die following physical restraint by police officers. He had been on holiday in Britain for three weeks when he got into an argument with the girlfriend of a friend.

Ian Tomlinson
Ian died on 1st April 2009 after being assaulted by a police officer at the G20 demonstrations in London. He was hit with a baton and thrown to the ground.

James Ashley
James was shot dead in front of his girlfriend during a night-time raid by police who wrongly believed he might be armed.
