The death penalty violates the right to life. It is the ultimate cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment. It has no place in a modern criminal justice system. The question as to whether or not it is morally acceptable for the state to execute people, and if so under what circumstances, has been debated for centuries.

The United Families & Friends Campaign is a coalition of families and friends of those that have died in the custody of police, prisons and secure psychiatric hospitals. Je 2006 Super 200 people turned up to remember and demand justice for those who have been killed or beaten and abused in police custody, in prisons and mental health institutions.
