Carly Speed is a PhD researcher at Liverpool John Moores University. She is researching the deaths of patients detained under the Mental Health Act, along with deaths in police and prison custody of individuals with mental health problems.
Her main areas of interest are the experiences of families, along with viewpoints regarding the inquest and investigation processes, both personally and professionally.
Strict ethical guidelines are being followed to ensure confidentiality and anonymity. Research findings will be disseminated through conference papers and publications, along with being shared with families, charities and other interested bodies.
