W.Midlands Police & Crime Commissioner Summit

Police Parade “an important opportunity to ensure that community issues drive policing in the West Midlands.” Doreen Lawrence, Founder of the Stephen Lawrence Trust.

A WMPCC representative said; “We want communities in the West Midlands to have trust and confidence in their local police. Our levels of reported crime are at a historic low, but we all need to see we are being served by an efficient and fair police in order to feel safe within our neighbourhoods.

“We would like to invite you to our Trust and Confidence Summit to discuss how we can devise solutions together to improve trust and confidence for all our diverse communities.”

Wednesday 13 March 2013, at Tally Ho! Conference Centre, Pershore Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham B5 7NR.

Registration 9 am, event starts 9.30 am

Keynote speaker will be Doreen Lawrence.

During the Summit we hope to cover the following:

  • share experiences of what makes your community feel safe and what affects its relationship with local police,
  • hear from West Midlands Police on how they communicate with our diverse communities and work with partners to reduce Hate Crime,
  • hear from the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) on how they deal with complaints against the police and how they liaise with local communities
  • use our discussions to generate solutions and new models  within local communities.

We cannot stress how important and valuable your contribution is to both our planning and consultation processes and we look forward to seeing you at this event.

Bob Jones, PCC and Yvonne Mosquito, Deputy PCC
