Community leaders are calling for a federal investigation of an alleged case of police brutality. A state representative, ministers and community activists are asking the FBI to investigate the case of 15-year-old Brandon Johnson. 24-Hour News 8 talked to a spokesman for the FBI who says the agency is aware of the case and is reviewing the facts to determine whether an investigation is warranted.
Brandon Johnson adamantly claims his broken nose, broken teeth and a badly swollen eye are the result of police brutality. Brandon claims his sobbing little brother was being wrongly arrested. Brandon says when he went to comfort his younger brother, police attacked Brandon.
“He clotheslined me and then I fell to the ground and then he punched me twice and then another officer came,” said Brandon. He claims officers kicked him as he lay on the ground. But the police report says Brandon was resisting arrest and refused to obey officers. Police say they were called to the community after neighbors spotted the younger brother trying to break into a vacant house.
