Mikey died on 7th September 2003 in the custody of West Midlands police officers. He was arrested after creating a disturbance outside his home, restrained and taken to Thornhill Road Police Station.

This group was set up in September 2008 to mark 5 years since the tragic death of Mikey Powell in police custody. Mikey died on 7th September 2003, in Handsworth, Birmingham, UK. He had been arrested outside his mother’s house in the Lozells area of the city.
