In memory of Mikey, taken away from his family and friends on September 7th 2003. “We will never forget him.” Each year his family and friends hold a candlelit vigil at the place he died.
The Mikey Powell Campaign for Justice was established by the family of Michael Lloyd Powell (known as Mikey), following his death. Mikey died on 7th September 2003, in Handsworth, Birmingham, UK. He had been arrested outside his mother’s house in the Lozells area of the city.

Mikey Powell family win important milestone battle
Last Friday, 2 July, the family of Mikey Powell came a step closer to finding out exactly how Mikey died. The High Court in London ordered that Northants police allow them access to 4000 documents relating to the police investigation into Mikey’s death.
